CSP’s hire products to be used at Ultra Fast Broadband rollout around Auckland

The rollout of ultra fast broadband to more than 1.4 million Aucklanders got underway last week in Albany as the first fibre in the city was deployed by Steven Joyce, the Minister for Communications and Information Technology, under the government’s Ultra Fast Broadband (UFB) initiative.

“We were asked to supply 100 of our pedestrian barricades for the UFB rollout media event day,” said David Russell, Hire Manager for CSP. “It was quite a big occasion as this government backed project has had a lot of attention and has been highly publicised.”

Chorus is contracted to Auckland and 23 other centres for the installation of the UFB initiative over the next eight and a half years with Visionstream gaining the contract for the Auckland region for areas from Whenuapai through to Drury. Deployment will cover a population of more than 1.4 million as well as 24,200 business premises, more than 400 schools and 2,500 medical and other healthcare services. It is hoped that 17,500 Auckland premises will be covered in the first year.

“With the installation of 150 fibre optic cabinets and associated civil works in Auckland over the next year we will require our contractors to comply with the Code of Practice for Temporary Traffic Management (COPTTM), said Jeff Roberts, Deployment Manager UFB for Visionstream Pty Ltd. “We will be deploying pedestrian barricades to eliminate the public from moving plant and machinery and open excavations.”

“We were happy to be of assistance with the supply of our barricades for this event and look forward to supplying barricades to Jeff and his team when required,” adds David.
